Zusammenfassung
Environmental Informatics is a well established part of Applied Informatics and shapes important contributions to enhance environmental protection. However, the latter field has been undertaken several developments in direction to Sustainable Development (SD) in the last years. SD extends environmental protection and comprises also questions of economy and society. Consequently, it is necessary to discuss if it is useful to establish a subfield called “Sustainability Informatics”.
