L'objectif du projet GEIXS (Geological Electronic eXchange System) est de réunies informations géoscientifiques collectées depuis plus d'un siècle, données existantes mais dispersées dans les Services Géologiques de l'Union Européenne et d'en faire une véritable ressource Européenne. Le livrable est un serveur Webdécrivant les métainformations géoscientifiques et géoreférencées. Ce projet est financé par l'Union Européenne DGIII. Les quinze services géologiques européens y participent avec Matra Datavision.
The aim of GEIXS (Geological Electronic eXchange System) is to bring together the existing dispersed data holdings, gathered over more than 100 years, presently held by the national geological surveys, and to turn these information assets into an European resource. This will be achieved by harmonising the existing digital indexes (metadata) of information, developing the necessary Internet GIS-browser. This project is funded by European Union DGIII. The fifteen national geological surveys will participate together with Matra Datavision as 3D basic software provider
