Zusammenfassung

Geneva Risk and Chem Risk are instruments developed at the requests of the Authorities of the Cantons of Geneva and Zurich in Switzerland, in order to survey and to assess the risks of environmental potential pollution and potential human hazard caused by dangerous chemical substances, materials and pathogenic organisms. Risk calculations are performed and then used for classification, prioritization and GIS cartographic production of major hazard plants, railways highways and pipelines. The results visualized by means of GIS maps on human and biological hazards, contamination of surface and ground waters, are an important additional information for landuse planners and also a usefull instrument of risk communication.
