Zusammenfassung

Environmental Information Systems (EIS) are a kind of information system, addressing either the public or business sector. Different environmental data is gathered and visualized for the user. Now there is a question whether the application of semantic technologies and the interconnection and inference of data may transform EIS to environmental knowledge systems? The given article addresses this issue and proposes a concept for an ‘environmental knowledge system’ called UmweltWiS.
