Zusammenfassung
This paper gives an overview about PLIB (ISO 13584), a meta model for the building of product ontologies. Product ontologies provide a way to describe the meaning of product data in shared data bases or e-business exchange protocols. A number of product ontologies have been or are currently under development. Some activities are discussed which are meant to ensure their compatibility to allow the use of different product ontologies in applications.
