Zusammenfassung

The healthcare industry is becoming more and more distributed; organizations are increasingly relying on mobile links to access patient information and to update their databases at the point of care. New technologies, such as Internet solutions or wireless, are enabling the widely disparate systems used in healthcare to communicate with each other and are reducing the cost of integration. Hospitals can access critical patient information and billing data from anyplace and anytime, including community clinics, patient homes, or at the scene of an emergency. In this article, we will present a mobile hospital solution that is based on DB2 Ev- eryplace. DB2 Everyplace extends the power of database systems to handheld devices for the ever-growing mobile business environment. The article continues with a medical scenario that describes an application for home care nurses. The article closes with a short description of a mobile hospital solution with DB2 Everyplace in a Canadian hospital.
