A.R.I.S.M.A. (Catalogo delle Risorse Informative SINAnet e Metadati Ambientali, in English: Catalogue of Information Resources for SINAnet and Environmental Metadata) is a software application developed to allow easy documentation and on-line access to information resources available on nodes of SINAnet, Italian National Environmental Information Network. Resources include: environmental data and software applications for their management, technical guidelines, reference databases, GIS maps to be used for geo-referencing data, etc. Among the main features of CARISMA are: management of hierarchical data structure for resources, four different patterns for classification and retrieval (including use of key words from GEMET controlled vocabulary), a on-line management module that allows authorized users to perform directly all management activities on the catalogue. Metadata used for resources include a subset conforming to Dublin Core Element Set. CARISMA, as other software applications developed by ANPA, is available for SINAnet Institutional organizations as “open source”.de
