One of the main problems when applying a river flood model is the preparation of the necessary input files and most important the visualization of the results. Most flood models have been developed years ago and input/output files follow rigid structures with little if any visualization capabilities. This paper presents Flood-View a library of generic GIS procedures that can be used with both 1-D and 2-D models. There is a set of procedures for preparing model input files from standard GIS databases and another set of procedures for converting the output files into GIS layers. Standard GIS scripts have been developed that provide users with a variety of visualization options. The procedures have been developed under ArcView 3.2 and are compatible with the CARIMA and HYDRA 1-D models and the FESWMS 2-D model. They could be extended to other flood models by modifying some of the scripts.de
