In paper some procedures for calibration and optimization of waste water treatment plants models, based on model called ASM 1 were described and discussed. In performed studies data recorded in a plant in Resovia (south – eastern Poland) was taken into consideration. Calibration of a process was considered as a manual adaptation of the ASM 1 model to information obtained from investigated object, while optimization was an automatic investigation with use of computational optimization algorithms. In conclusions advantages and disadvantages of applied procedures were described.de
