- ZeitschriftenartikelGrowth Marketing Considered Harmful(i-com: Vol. 20, No. 1, 2021) Speicher, MaximilianIn today’s e-commerce industry, conversion rate optimization is often considered essentially the same as user experience optimization. In addition, there is a strong focus on quantitative experimentation, which some deem a jack-of-all-trades solution, often at the expense of qualitative user experience research. Both are worrying developments. This essay elaborates on why it is harmful to consider conversion rate optimization and user experience optimization to be the same thing in the context of growth marketing, and how the three concepts are interrelated.

- mensch und computer 2013 - workshopbandTowards Metric-based Usability Evaluation of Online Web Interfaces(Mensch & Computer 2013 - Workshopband, 2013) Speicher, Maximilian; Both, Andreas; Gaedke, MartinCurrent approaches to web interface evaluation are tedious or do not provide sufficient information. Thus, we propose a new metric-based method building on interaction data and usability models. This would enable internet companies to evaluate interfaces at faster iteration cycles but poses new requirements to usability instruments. As a first step, we present INUIT an instrument aiming at this specific purpose. A confirmatory factor analysis showed that INUIT can reasonably well describe real-world perceptions of usability while being compatible with the desired metric-based approach.
