    IT-gestützte individualisierte Altersvorsorgeberatung
(Wirtschaftsinformatik: Vol. 49, No. 2, 2007) Eberhardt, Michael; Zimmermann, Steffen
AbstractThe paper outlines, how financial service providers can generate competitive advantages through innovative IT-support for their financial advisory processes. Therefore a generic concept for individualised financial advisory processes is enhanced by the consideration of tax and social contribution effects. This concept is operationalised for the important field of private retirement planning. Thus IT-support for the process of individualised advice is essential because of its high complexity and enables an individualised optimisation of customers’ portfolios. In cooperation with a German financial service provider this concept is already successfully implemented in a first release and will be extended and improved in the future.

Cost accounting for shared IT infrastructures
(Wirtschaftsinformatik: Vol. 49, No. 2, 2007) Brandl, Reinhard; Bichler, Martin; Ströbel, Michael
IT infrastructure, such as servers and networking equipment, accounts for a large proportion of the IT costs in modern organizations. Typically, this IT infrastructure is shared among multiple applications and customers. Cost allocation of shared IT infrastructure is difficult and regularly based on biased cost allocation keys, which often causes free-rider problems. Measuring usage is technically difficult and incurs high costs. In this paper we propose a method to derive adequate estimators for the resource consumption of a customer-oriented service. These so-called resource profiles can then provide a basis for cost allocation keys. The estimators are derived from a series of load tests, as they are typically done before an application is launched in larger organizations. Such profiles need to be unbiased and precise even in cases of varying workloads and in rather heterogeneous environments. We describe the results of a set of experiments in an infrastructure provided by the BMW Group, and illustrate how the estimation can be integrated into existing IT service management processes. In our experiments we use Queuing Networks to validate the estimated resource profiles under different workloads.

    Personalisierung der Internetsuche
(Wirtschaftsinformatik: Vol. 49, No. 2, 2007) Riemer, Kai; Brüggemann, Fabian
AbstractThe importance of information in today’ss society is still growing and information search has become an essential task in both the workplace and in private life. Search engines provide access to the abundance of information available, but show certain limitations in dealing with the typical information overload problems. With the application of personalisation techniques search engine providers aim at moderating some of the problems by providing users with information access individualised to their needs. The aim of this paper is twofold. Firstly, a state-of-the-art overview of research on the personalisation of search services is given. For doing so, various techniques for search engine personalisation are discussed and structured along the lines of a typical user search process. Secondly, the list of techniques is used to classify a sample of 20 search engines in order to illustrate the application of search personalisation in practice. The results are discussed and implications for future research are derived.

SIM-R/3: Softwaresystem zur Simulation der Regelung produktionslogistischer Prozesse durch das R/3-System der SAP AG
(Wirtschaftsinformatik: Vol. 49, No. 2, 2007) Herrmann, Frank
Softwarearchitektur zur Regelung eines Gesamtprozesses, der in einem Standardsimulationssystem (eM-Plant) dargestellt ist, durch ein ERP-System (SAP R/3).AbstractState of the art in enterprises is the control of business processes by enterprise resource planning systems (ERP systems) such as the R/3 system of SAP AG. A typical task in the implementation phase of ERP systems consists in the choice of an appropriate lot sizing procedure and the setup of its parameters. The existing procedures do not deliver the best results for each business process. So, a business specific setup is required. Unfortunately, there is no knowledge of good parameter settings for typical business processes. Therefore, different parameter settings have to be tested out on real business processes over long periods (e. g. over several years). Of course, such an approach fails due to time restrictions. In addition, the literature argues that an automated software process — contrary to a physical process — is often never called in question or further optimized. An alternative offers a simulation of business processes which is controlled by an ERP system. In the laboratory of information science and production logistics (LIP) at the University of Applied Sciences, Regensburg, a pilot implementation of a system for simulating the control of production processes by the SAP R/3-System (SIM-R/3) was developed. SIM-R/3 allows such a simulation over long periods.
