- ZeitschriftenartikelIntegrierte Ex-ante-Rendite-/Risikobewertung von IT-Investitionen(Wirtschaftsinformatik: Vol. 47, No. 4, 2005) Wehrmann, Alexander; Zimmermann, SteffenIn enterprises decisions whether to undertake investments into IT projects or not have to be made regularly. Regarding the fact that two out of three IT projects fail or do not reach their expected value the need for an integrated valuation which addresses returns and connected risks is evident. The impact of development aspects (e.g. the process model used) and project size on the risk-return position of IT projects is demonstrated and it is shown how this can be taken into account when valuing, optimizing and selecting IT investments.
- ZeitschriftenartikelEine Dienstgüte unterstützende Webservice-Architektur für flexible Geschäftsprozesse(Wirtschaftsinformatik: Vol. 47, No. 4, 2005) Berbner, Rainer; Heckmann, Oliver; Mauthe, Andreas; Steinmetz, RalfWeb services as a technology to enable distributed business processes gain in importance. However, the support of Quality of Service (QoS) is crucial in this context. Thus, we present an integrated web service architecture with comprehensive QoS support. The architecture we introduce in this paper supports the assessment of web services to assure that only web services will be used in critical business processes that satisfy the requirements defined by the user. The selection and execution of a certain web service depends on its QoS-properties that must be guaranteed in Service Level Agreements (SLAs). The compliance with SLAs is monitored by the system as well. Furthermore we introduce a prototypical implementation of our web service architecture.

- ZeitschriftenartikelErfolgsfaktoren der Applikationsintegration(Wirtschaftsinformatik: Vol. 47, No. 4, 2005) Klesse, Mario; Wortmann, Felix; Schelp, JoachimIn this paper success factors for application integration are identified. Furthermore, the factors are confirmed using structural equation modeling. Success is measured using five goal indicators: quality of process support, business satisfaction, application integration costs, architectural flexibility and time-to-market. All factors discussed — architecture management, business-IT alignment, organization of integration, integration methodology, service oriented architecture, consolidation of applications, standardization and technical quality of integration infrastructures — show positive impact on application integration success. Since no dominant factor could be identified, a balanced implementation of all success factors is recommended.
