    Digital Security Story Cards for Women with a Refugee and Migrant Background

    Our work focuses on the design process of a prototype of “story cards” to address, learn and reflect on digital security topics through dialogue and storytelling, for women with a refugee and migrant background. We describe crucial aspects behind the design process of the prototype, including related work, the process behind the identification of needs and challenges around digital security and ICT usage of our target group, as well as our findings, limitations, reflections, and opportunities for future work. With this contribution, we want to shed light on the necessity of digital security learning materials that are accessible and adequate to the needs of individuals and groups, particularly women, with a refugee and migrant background.

    Und alle können das dann lesen...: von der partizipativen Entwicklung eines Spiels über die Rolle(n) von Technik in unserem Alltag

    Reflektiertes Technikhandeln, wie auch die dafür notwendige Aneignung von IKT Kompetenzen gründen wesentlich auch darauf, dass man über Technik reden kann. Unterschiede in Alter, Bildung, Herkunft, Kultur und Sprache stellen hierbei oft Hindernisse dar. In einem partizipativen Projekt erarbeiten wir ein Spiel, in dem die Entwicklung einer Utopie mit oder ohne Technik im Mittelpunkt steht. Über mehrere Jahre in einem come_IN Computerclub gemeinsam gemachte Lehr und Lernerfahrungen bilden die Grundlage für Spielelemente, Spielregeln, Ereignis und Aktionskarten.

    The Urban Future is Now: Uniting Powers for Inclusive and Sustainable Design of Smart Cities

    The rapid urbanisation and smartization of the world brings challenges of designing urban futures that contribute to a sustainable and inclusive city environment. Additional complexity arises from space and infrastructure constraints, the diverse user range and involvement of multiple stakeholders in the design process. While these technologies -- once created -- would shape the future of cities and human- and non-human-citizens in the long run, we identify a lack of experience and knowledge exchange in the respective community regarding the addressing of smart city challenges from more than purely technical or topic-specific perspectives. With this workshop, we aim to gather researchers and practitioners from the fields of Urban Informatics, Smart Urbanism, and Human-Computer Interaction to openly share experiences and to outline the design challenges that should be addressed first, with the values of sustainability and inclusion as objectives for smart urban futures.
