- ZeitschriftenartikelDigital twin technology – An approach for Industrie 4.0 vertical and horizontal lifecycle integration(it - Information Technology: Vol. 60, No. 3, 2018) Anderl, Reiner; Haag, Sebastian; Schützer, Klaus; Zancul, EduardoDigital Twin technology is increasingly gaining importance for digitizing industry. Even if digital twin technology still needs fundamental research, its significance for industry has become very visible, as digital twin technology is a key success factor to professionalize Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) applications. Industrie 4.0 as an initiative to increase industrial added value is based on establishing connectivity between CPS and to enable communication between CPS. The industrial application scenarios for Industrie 4.0 aim at vertical and horizontal lifecycle integration concepts where digital twin technology plays an important role. This contribution explains major concepts of Industrie 4.0 and derives the role of digital twin technology. Furthermore, digital twin approaches are presented and as well as the proposal to use the STEP-technology (Standard for the Exchange of Product Model Data, ISO 10303) as a fundamental basis for a comprehensive digital twin technology.
Environmental effects result from all life cycle phases of a product. A designer needs an effective access on technical, economical and ecological knowledge for the development of economic and environmentally friendly products. To represent this knowledge, a new co-operative information modelling method (COOM) is introduced, which allows the distributed, parallel and computer-useable representation of environmental product knowledge. The environmental database created using this method serves as the basis of a design environment, containing tools for ecological assessment of products in all life cycle phases.

- KonferenzbeitragRechnergestützte Systeme zur prospektiven ökologischen Beurteilung von Produkten(Umweltinformatik ’98 - Vernetzte Strukturen in Informatik, Umwelt und Wirtschaft - Computer Science for Environmental Protection ’98 - Networked Structures in Information Technology, the Environment and Business, 1998) Atik, Alp; Schulz, Herbert; Pütter, Christian; Anderl, ReinerThe incorporation of methods and tools for the development of environmentally sound products into design processes is frequently not sufficient. The authors present a solution that integrates a computer aided system into an usual design environment. Product and process data coming from a CAD System is aggregated to an ecological index-score using fuzzy sets. This index-score supports the designer as a simple and certain aid to decision-making accompanying to development process.
