- ZeitschriftenartikelAnfragesprachen für das Semantic Web(Informatik-Spektrum: Vol. 28, No. 1, 2005) Baumeister, Joachim; Seipel, DietmarDas Semantic Web wird seit dem visionären Artikel von Berners-Lee, Hendler und Lassila [3] allgemein als die nächste Evolutionsstufe des World Wide Web betrachtet.
- KonferenzbeitragCreation of In-Situ Instructions Made Easy: Development and Evaluation of a Prototypical AR Tool(Mensch und Computer 2022 - Tagungsband, 2022) Wienrich, Carolin; Roß, Valentin; Baumeister, JoachimIn-situ overlays are considered forward-looking for technical service instructions. Creating these instructions usually requires expertise in 3D modeling, AR environment creation, and the domain of the instruction being created. The goal of this work was to develop a prototype that simplifies the creation of in-situ overlays. For this purpose, concepts for functions and operation of the tool were elaborated, a functional prototype was developed and subsequently evaluated in a user study. Modeling 3D representations was simplified with the approach of creating objects by assembling basic geometric shapes. By using augmented reality, the basic shapes can be placed directly around the real object. The virtual objects can then be positioned in relation to real objects through the flexible use of an AR marker. The augmented instructions created in this way can be retrieved at any time. In our user study, all participants were able to successfully create in-situ instructions quickly and without prior knowledge. This work contributes to a better usage of augmented in-situ instructions without 3D modeling knowledge.
- KonferenzbeitragEvaluation of two strategies for case-based diagnosis handling multiple faults (extended abstract)(WM 2003: Professionelles Wissesmanagement – Erfahrungen und Visionen, Beiträge der 2. Konferenz Professionelles Wissensmanagement, 2003) Atzmüller, Martin; Baumeister, Joachim; Puppe, Frank
- KonferenzbeitragExperience-based Quality Assessment of Distributed Knowledge Graphs(WM 2019 - Wissensmanagement in digitalen Arbeitswelten: Aktuelle Ansätze und Perspektiven - Knowledge Management in Digital Workplace Environments: State of the Art and Outlook, 2020) Baumeister, JoachimThis paper introduces an experience-based approach for the evaluation of distributed knowledge graphs. The quality assessment becomes more important in recent days, since distributed knowledge emerges rapidly in different application areas. The paper reports the domain of industrial configuration and production, where distributed knowledge bases have been maintained manually over decades. We describe the configuration ontology COOM and show how standard technologies can be used to query experience-based anomalies. A selection of anomalies is discussed.
- KonferenzbeitragA meta-engineering approach for customized document-centered knowledge acquisition(Modellierung 2012, 2012) Reutelshoefer, Jochen; Baumeister, Joachim; Puppe, FrankEnabling domain specialists to formalize domain knowledge using knowledge acquisition tools, also known as direct knowledge acquisition, has been a challenge in artificial intelligence research for decades. Building custom-tailored knowledge acquisition tools proved to be a convenient method to empower domain specialists to contribute to knowledge bases directly. Engineering on the meta level, i.e. building tools that allow to build customized knowledge acquisition tools, is the strategy to reduce implementation costs for the customized tools. In this paper, we present an approach to build customized knowledge acquisition environments for documentcentered knowledge base authoring. This editing paradigm, being an alternative to the use of graphical user interfaces, is well suited for the customization approach allowing for knowledge acquisition at low effort for both, the domain specialists and the knowledge engineers. We present a meta-engineering process coordinating the customization efforts and a metatool for the system KnowWE enabling efficient metaengineering. To illustrate the overall approach we describe a real-world case study in e-learning in the domain of Ancient History.
- KonferenzbeitragTextual Case-based Adaptation using Semantic Relatedness - A Case Study in the Domain of Security Documents(WM 2019 - Wissensmanagement in digitalen Arbeitswelten: Aktuelle Ansätze und Perspektiven - Knowledge Management in Digital Workplace Environments: State of the Art and Outlook, 2020) Korger, Andreas; Baumeister, JoachimIn previous efforts graph-based and textual knowledge representations were combined for the usage in case-based reasoning. This work proposes first steps for this combination in the domain of secu- rity documents and similar document classes. We present an approach pre-processing documents for textual case-based reasoning by adapting methods of natural language processing. We propose a method improving a case-based hierarchical similarity assessment for retrieval by introducing the concept of vector space embeddings and semantic relatedness of words and phrases.
