Such simulations require large amounts of heterogeneous data ranging from spatio-temporal to standard object properties. This and the increasing demand for large scale and real-time simulations pose many challenges for data management. In this paper, we present the architecture of a typical agent-based simulation system, describe several data management challenges that arise in such a data ecosystem, and discuss their current solutions within our multi-agent simulation system MARS.
- KonferenzbeitragEnvironmental Modeling and Simulation — Bridging the Gap Between Theory, Experiment, and Application(The Information Society and Enlargement of the European Union, 2003) Clemen, ThomasThere is a strong need for simulation models in environmental management. But differently from other engineering disciplines in fact models are barely used. In this paper we propose a terminology for describing results in the area of environmental modeling and simulation (EMS). With its help it is now possible to show the relationship between different pieces of work in EMS. Thus, it can be a first step to distributing simulation models for application
