- KonferenzbeitragA Hydrological Monitoring, Forecasting and Warning System for Poland(Environmental Communication in the Information Society - Proceedings of the 16th Conference, 2002) Dreher, Jorge; Fuchs, Martin; Kruszewski, Aleksander; Niedbala, Jerzy; Niwinski, JanuszOne of the main issues of the Emergency Flood Recovery Project in Poland is to develop a Hydrological Monitoring, Forecasting and Warning System for the entire country, which will be implemented subsequently by the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) at the Headquarter in Warsaw, and regional branch offices. The main tasks are to provide effective management of the hydro-meteorological monitoring network, promote uniformity of data carrying, streamline and formalize the access to the information used for flood forecast preparation, digital presentation of current meteorological conditions and forecasts. The System of Hydrology (SH), which is going to be developed for the IMGW, is presented in this paper.
- KonferenzbeitragFlexible Scheduling for Human Robot Collaboration in Intralogistics Teams(Mensch und Computer 2018 - Workshopband, 2018) Gursch, Heimo; Silva, Nelson; Reiterer, Bernhard; Paletta, Lucas; Bernauer, Patrick; Fuchs, Martin; Veas, Eduardo; Kern, RomanThe project Flexible Intralogistics for Future Factories (FlexIFF) conducts research into human robot collaboration for intralogistics teams in the electronics manufacturing industry. These teams are creating a cyber-physical system out of human workers, mobile manipulators, manufacturing machinery, and manufacturing information systems. AR and VR devices are used by workers to interact with the robots and machinery. The right information at the right time is key to make this collaboration successful. Hence, scheduling of tasks for mobile manipulators and human worker must be undertaken closely linked with enterprise information systems giving all actors on the shop floor a common view of the current manufacturing status. FlexIFF should provide useful, well tested, and sophisticated solutions for cyber-physicals systems in intralogistics where humans and robots can bring in their strengths and help each other.
- KonferenzbeitragHiveFive360: Extending the VR Gaze Guidance Technique HiveFive to Highlight Out-Of-FOV Targets(Proceedings of Mensch und Computer 2024, 2024) Kergaßner, Sophie; Doerr, Nina; Wieland, Markus; Fuchs, Martin; Sedlmair, MichaelModern display technologies, particularly those supporting 360° content, are increasingly used for immersive experiences in a variety of domains. However, information outside of the user’s field of view (FOV) may be easily overlooked. To address this, guiding cues can be provided to effectively direct attention. Subtle and diegetic cues are particularly effective in keeping the coherence and immersion of the presented content. HiveFive is one of the few diegetic highlighting techniques. It effectively highlights objects by attracting the user’s attention with swarm-like motion. However, HiveFive is restricted to in-FOV target highlighting. This work presents the novel technique HiveFive360, an extension of HiveFive that enables it to guide users to out-of-FOV targets. HiveFive360 is evaluated in a user study against FlyingARrow and Subtle Gaze Direction VR regarding completion time, sense of presence and task load. HiveFive360 was found to effectively guide users in various environments without excessive distraction or task load.
