- KonferenzbeitragOn the use of modular routers for implementing multicast communications in hybrid ad hoc networks(Informatik 2004 – Informatik verbindet – Band 1, Beiträge der 34. Jahrestagung der Gesellschaft für Informatik e.V. (GI), 2004) Ruiz, Pedro M.; Gomez-Skarmeta, Antonio F.; Galera, Francisco J.Current solutions for the specific problem of IP Multicast inter-working between IP access networks and wireless and mobile ad hoc networks are not able to work with standard IP multicast routers. We propose the MMARP protocol which is able to provide a smooth interoperation without an impairment in the overall performance. Modular routers are arousing a great interest, although some people have concerns regarding their performance. We show by comparing a C++ and a Clickbased implementation of the MMARP protocol the validity of our proposal as well as the benefits of using modular routers to easily implement ad hoc routing protocols without any reduction in the protocol's performance.
- KonferenzbeitragSecurity extensions to MMARP through cryptographically generated addresses(Informatik 2005 – Informatik Live! Band 2, 2005) Galera, Francisco J.; Ruiz, Pedro M.; Gomez-Skarmeta, Antonio F.; Kassler, AndreasThe MMARP protocol provides multicast routing in hybrid environments in which an ad hoc network is connected to the Internet. As many other routing protocols it was initially designed without taking into account security concerns. In this paper we propose some extensions to protect the protocol against spoofing and forging attacks. Our solution, based on cryptographically generated addresses and digital signatures, has proven to be effective without the presence of a centralized certification authority.
