- KonferenzbeitragCombining Active and Passive Haptic Feedback for Rich Stylus Interactions(Workshop-Proceedings der Tagung Mensch & Computer 2011. überMEDIEN|ÜBERmorgen, 2011) Wintergerst, Götz; Jagodzinski, Ron; Held, Matthias; Hemmert, Fabian; Müller, Alexander; Joost, GescheIn this paper, we introduce the prototype of a low cost haptic augmented stylus for pen computing on touch screens. The stylus enriches the interaction through a dynamic passive and active haptic feedback. The passive feedback is generated by a brake system based on an electromagnetic coil. The additive active feedback is made by a vibrating motor. The pen provides a broad scale of different haptic feedback -- especially for the display of haptic surface cues and the assistance/support of stroking gestures.
- KonferenzbeitragHap.pen: Sketching Haptic Behaviour(Workshop-Proceedings der Tagung Mensch & Computer 2011. überMEDIEN|ÜBERmorgen, 2011) Wintergerst, Götz; Jagodzinski, Ron; Giles, PeterWe introduce the prototype of a low cost haptically augmented stylus for pen computing. Hap.pen is a wireless stylus that senses the photon density of graphical onscreen-elements and translates them into a vibrational haptic feedback.
- KonferenzbeitragThermal Display, based on the separated presentation of hot and cold(Mensch & Computer 2012 – Workshopband: interaktiv informiert – allgegenwärtig und allumfassend!?, 2012) Jagodzinski, Ron; Wintergerst, Götz; Giles, PeterTemperature sensation is an important part of the human haptic perception. Nevertheless, thermal displays are rarely used within man-machine interfaces. One reason for this is the thermal reaction time of the transmitting contact material, which makes it hard to implement a dynamic interface. In this paper, we introduce a principle which allows a versatile presentation of heat and cold stimuli with thermal displays. The adjustable thermal changes are enabled by the separate execution of heat generation and cooling of the users skin.
