- KonferenzbeitragA Reference Architecture for Pharma, Healthcare & Life Sciences(Workshops der INFORMATIK 2018 - Architekturen, Prozesse, Sicherheit und Nachhaltigkeit, 2018) Sultanow, Eldar; Chircu, Alina; Schroeder, Kai; Kern, SebastianThis paper contributes to the digitalization research by proposing a digitalization reference architecture (RA) for the pharma, healthcare and the life sciences domain in the context of the overall healthcare landscape from a business and information technology (IT) perspective. The RA fills the gap created by the existing siloed, non-interoperable standards. The RA comprises three main components – therapeutic segments, pharma-specific functions, and generic functions. Horizontal slices – following the widespread TOGAF framework layers – characterize the RA to support a seamless view from capability to technology. The paper aims to provide a holistic RA along examples of how this architecture can be used in general and in the oncology sector – one of the largest pharma markets. The proposed RA can help companies interested in evaluating the value of digital technologies, their alignment with business models, or the impacts of regulations or other legal requirements in light of these digital technologies
- TextdokumentTowards an agile and adaptive Enterprise(INFORMATIK 2021, 2021) Cermann, Holger; Kern, Sebastian; Bertram, Florian; Sander, Martin; Heimann, Thomas; Proctor, RachelThis paper contributes to the challenge of enterprises responding to factors that require a change and transformation. It proposes a concept that can be adopted by enterprises’ organizational functions to empower agility and adaptability as a response to this challenge. The concept fills the gap of transformation challenges towards agility and adaptiveness. This is of particular relevance for classic and hierarchical-oriented businesses in a frequently faster-changing world. The main element of the concept describes a stepwise thinking pattern intended to guide a function's adaption process. It builds on industry-wide accepted principles of adaptive enterprises and applies the concept of reference architectures that shows a potential application of the stepwise approach in more detail. This paper builds around industry experiences that have the function of Enterprise Architecture Management (EAM). This is because the EAM function plays a central role in driving its enterprise with transparency and decision support in the process of transformation.
