- KonferenzbeitragCardioVINEdb: a data warehouse approach for integration of life science data in cardiovascular diseases(Informatik 2009 – Im Focus das Leben, 2009) Kormeier, Benjamin; Hippe, Klaus; Töpel, Thoralf; Hofestädt, RalfOne of the major challenges in bioinfomatics is to integrate and manage data from different sources as well as experimental microarray data and present them in a user-friendly format. Therefore, we present CardioVINEdb, a data warehouse approach developed to integrate and explore life science data. The data warehouse architecture provides a platform-independent web interface that can be used with any common web browser. A monitor component controls and updates the data from the different sources to guarantee up-to-dateness. In addition, the system provides a visualization component for interactive graphical exploration of the integrated data based on networks of biological objects.
- KonferenzbeitragDAWIS-M.D. - a data warehouse system for metabolic data(INFORMATIK 2010. Service Science – Neue Perspektiven für die Informatik. Band 2, 2010) Hippe, Klaus; Kormeier, Benjamin; Töpel, Thoralf; Janowski, Sebastian; Hofestädt, RalfToday, experiments like microarrays and other high-throughput methods generate a large number of life sciences data. Biologists need to be supported in their research by tools and applications that can analyze and interpret experimental data while considering external data sources or data from experiments of other researchers. Moreover, relationships and interactions between different data sets and biomedical domains have to be detected and represented in a clear and understandable manner. These questions are some of the major challenges in bioinfomatics. Therefore, we present DAWIS-M.D., a platform-independent data warehouse system for metabolic data. This data warehouse information system provides an integrated and consistent view of large scale biomedical data. DAWIS-M.D. is a publicly available web-based system that integrates data from 11 different biomedical databases.
