- KonferenzbeitragCost estimation for ontology development(Business Information Systems – 9th International Conference on Business Information Systems (BIS 2006), 2006) Paslaru Bontas Simperl, Elena; Mochol, MalgorzataTechniques for reliably estimating development efforts are a fundamental requirement for a wide-scale dissemination of ontologies in business contexts. In this paper we account for the similarities and differences between software and ontology engineering in order to establish the appropriateness of applying software cost models to ontologies. We propose a parametric approach to cost estimation for ontology development and analyze various cost factors implied in the ontology engineering process.
- KonferenzbeitragOntology based recruitment process(Informatik 2004, Informatik verbindet, Band 2, Beiträge der 34. Jahrestagung der Gesellschaft für Informatik e.V. (GI), 2004) Mochol, Malgorzata; Oldakowski, Radoslaw; Heese, RalfIn our research we explore the benefits resulting from the application of Semantic Web technologies in the recruitment domain. We use currently available standards and classifications to develop a human resource ontology which gives us means for semantic annotation of job postings and applications. Furthermore, we outline the process of semantic matching which improves the quality of query results. Finally, we propose an architecture of an evaluation system based on Semantic Web technologies.
AbstractSemantic Web technologies are enabling for unambiguous identification of concepts and relationships between concepts. Comparing job and applicants profiles, this identification is a key element for increasing the precision of search results provided by search engines. Furthermore, it allows for automating and supporting recruitment processes. We present the application scenario and our prototypical implementation. In particular, we discuss the ontologies built and used for our matching function. We describe our observations on the advantages for actors in the scenario.
- ZeitschriftenartikelSemantic-Web-Technologien in der Arbeitsplatzvermittlung(Informatik-Spektrum: Vol. 29, No. 3, 2006) Falk, Thorsten; Heese, Ralf; Kaspar, Christian; Mochol, Malgorzata; Pfeiffer, Daniel; Thygs, Michael; Tolksdorf, RobertThe importance of the Internet for job procurement is increasing for the reason that three quarters of the people in the employment age are online. On the other hand because ever more companies are publishing their job offers on the Web. However, due to the large number of openings published online it is almost impossible for job seekers and job portals to gain an overview of the entire employment market. Since job offers lack semantically meaningful annotations, the search and integration into databases are made highly difficult. Applying Semantic Web technologies to the e-recruitment process provides advantages for all participants in the market. In this paper we describe a method for analysing the domain-specific language of an application domain. We use this method to describe the e-recruitment process and the necessary ontologies for annotating job offers and job applications. In conclusion, we present the prototypical implementation of the scenario based on Semantic Web, especially semantic matching.
