- KonferenzbeitragCoupling of AIRBASE With the EEA Map Service Tool(The Information Society and Enlargement of the European Union, 2003) Mol, WimSince 1995 the European Topic Center for Air and Climate Change (ETC/ACC) has been developing the AirBase information system. AirBase is the ETC/ACC central database for storing and retrieving European air-quality measurement results as well as detailed descriptions of monitoring networks, stations and measurement configurations. ETC/ACC has also developed the DEM (Data Exchange Module) as a tool for data exchange between the data supplying countries and AirBase and AirView as a tool to retrieve data from AirBase . The AirView web-application has been developed to give the general public interested in environmental issues a tool to interactively query the AirBase database and visualise air quality monitoring results as tables, graphs or maps. The application is available through the ETC/ACC web (http://etc-acc.eionet.eu.int/data bases/airview.html). AirView will have an important upgrade this year. AirView 3.0 will have more flexibility in selecting data graphically, more output possibilities, but also a link with the EEA Map Service Tool. It will be possible to select the data interactively via AirView and to make a corresponding GIS map on the EEA Map Server.
- KonferenzbeitragDEM-AQ: Data Exchange Module for Air Quality data(Sh@ring – EnviroInfo 2004, 2004) Mol, WimSince 1998 the European Topic Centre for Air and Climate Change (ETC/ACC 2) and its predecessor the European Topic Centre on Air Quality has placed the DEMAQ (Data Exchange Module for Air Quality Data) at the disposal of air quality data suppliers. The DEM-AQ is a tool for data exchange between countries supplying air quality data and the European central database for air quality data: AIRBASE. The DEM-AQ supports collection of air quality data and associated meta data required by the various legal and moral obligations. These obligations are: Council Decision 97/101/EC (‘Exchange of Information’, (EoI)), EEA-EuroAirnet programme and EMEP Task Force on Measurement and Modelling (TFMM).
- KonferenzbeitragMaking Air Quality Assessments with AIRBASE(Informatics for Environmental Protection - Networking Environmental Information, 2005) Mol, Wim; de Leeuw, FrankThe European Topic Centre for Air and Climate Change (ETC/ACC2) has developed AIRBASE, a database containing European-wide information on air quality monitoring stations and data. Air quality data for the 31 member countries of the European Environmental Agency (EEA) is collected under the Council Decision 97/101/EC (Exchange of Information). AIRBASE contains data for more than 40 pollutants at about 4300 stations over a period of more than 10 years. Besides the AIRBASE database, the AIRBASE information system consists of a Data Exchange Module which facilitates the exchange of information between the supplying countries and AIRBASE and an interactive graphical web-application AIRVIEW3 to provide an easy access to the data both for the general public as well as for the professional user. Last year AIRVIEW 3.1 is released. Some interesting new features of AIRVIEW will be presented. There are also XML-dumps available of AIRBASE. The national data suppliers are responsible for the quality of the data. Nevertheless, quality checks have been performed at the incoming data. AIRBASE has been used in a number of air quality assessments, both for the European Commission as well as for the EEA. Selected results - e.g. changing chemical composition - will be presented.
