    Analyzing the SOA ability of standard software packages with a dedicated architecture maturity framework

    The SOA Innovation Lab investigates the use of standard software packages in a service-oriented context. As a part of this investigation the SOA capabilities of products from different vendors need to be evaluated. For this purpose a SOA architecture maturity framework has been developed, leveraging and extending CMMI and TOGAF, as well as other state-of-the art frameworks and methods. Besides details about our framework, we present and analyze first results from the assessment of various vendor platforms.

    Integration strategies and patterns for SOA and standard platforms

    The SOA Innovation Lab presents a holistic approach for the development of a service-oriented enterprise architecture with custom and standard software packages. Starting point is the construction and analysis of company domain maps with respect to characteristics of SOA and standard software. After assessing the SOA ability of standard software packages within an architecture maturity framework, we show how target architectures can be developed with the help of use case analyses, capability maps and integration patterns. Besides methods and related artifacts, we present current adoption issues for standard software packages in service-oriented contexts.

    Method for service-oriented EAM with standard platforms in heterogeneous IT landscapes

    The SOA Innovation Lab has investigated the use of standard software packages in a service-oriented context. As a result, we present a holistic approach for developing a service-oriented enterprise architecture with custom and standard software packages. It starts on enterprise level with the identification of domains where both the SOA paradigm and standard software are of relevance. Here SOA capabilities of products from different vendors can be evaluated within a proposed maturity framework. After pre-requisites and dependencies between distributed components are determined, a high-level architecture can be developed. On the basis of use cases and integration patterns this high level architecture can be refined and verified. Besides methods and related artifacts, we present current adoption issues for standard software packages in service-oriented contexts.

    Praxiserprobte Muster und Landkarten zur serviceorientierten Integration von Standardsoftware

    Eine Arbeitsgruppe des SOA Innovation Lab e.V. (www.soa-lab.de) analysiert derzeit, welche Erfahrungen die verschiedenen Mitgliedsunternehmen mit der serviceorientierten Integration von Standardsoftware gemacht haben. Die Ergebnisse werden auf der Basis eines Reifegradmodells für serviceorientierte Architekturen ausgewertet und für alle Mitglieder aufbereitet. Als Teilaspekt wurde insbesondere die Frage untersucht, inwiefern sich die serviceorientierte Integration von Standardsoftware von den in vielen Unternehmen etablierten Integrationslösungen unterscheidet und welche Lösungsmuster sich in der Praxis als hilfreich erwiesen haben.
