- KonferenzbeitragApplying Semantics to Sarbanes Oxley Internal Controls Compliance(Informatik 2007 – Informatik trifft Logistik – Band 1, 2007) Namiri, Kioumars; Stojanovic, NenadThe advent of regulatory compliance requirements such as Sarbanes Oxley Act has forced enterprises to set up a process for managing an effective internal controls system. We propose the introduction of a semantic layer in which the process instances are interpreted according to the required compliance controls represented as rules. We analyze in this paper the requirements for the implementation of the approach using SWRL from software architectural perspective.
- KonferenzbeitragEvolution of the metadata in the ontology-based knowledge management systems(1st German workshop on experience management: sharing experiences about the sharing of experience, 2002) Stojanovic, Ljiljana; Stojanovic, Nenad; Handschuh, SiegfriedAn ontology-based knowledge management system uses an ontology to represent explicit specification of a business domain and to serve as a backbone for providing and searching for knowledge sources. But, dynamically changing business environment implies changes in the conceptualisation of a business domain that are reflected on the underlying domain ontologies. Consequently, these changes have effects on the performances and validity of the KM system. In this paper we present an approach for enabling consistency of the description of knowledge sources in an ontology-based KM system in the case of changes in the domain ontology. This approach is based on our research in the ontology evolution and ontology-based annotation of documents. The proposed method is implemented in our semantic annotation framework so that effcient acquiring and maintaining of ontology-based metadata is supported.
- KonferenzbeitragOn discovering user's needs in the ontology based portals using implicit relevance feedback(Informatik 2004, Informatik verbindet, Band 2, Beiträge der 34. Jahrestagung der Gesellschaft für Informatik e.V. (GI), 2004) Stojanovic, NenadIn this paper we present a novel approach for discovering preferences of a user who searches for information in an ontology-based portal. The approach is based on analysing the user's searching behaviour regarding the given ontology and the content of the underlying information repository. In that way we develop so called short-term user's profile, that can be used for recommending relevant information to the user. The approach is realized as a method for ranking query refinements in the so-called step-by-step query refinement process. It is very suitable for modelling interactive searching in digital libraries or product catalogues.
- KonferenzbeitragOn the role of a librarian agent in ontology-based knowledge management systems(WM 2003: Professionelles Wissesmanagement – Erfahrungen und Visionen, Beiträge der 2. Konferenz Professionelles Wissensmanagement, 2003) Stojanovic, NenadIn this paper, we present an agent-based approach for the improvement of searching in an ontology-based knowledge management system. The system implements a library scenario in which users query the repository for knowledge resources. Consequently, the so-called Librarian Agent plays the role of the human librarian in the traditional library – it uses all possible information, about the domain vocabulary, the behaviour of previous users and the capacity of the knowledge repository, in order to help users find the resources they are interested in. We partially implemented the approach in the Web Portal of our Institute and some initial evaluation results are shown.
- KonferenzbeitragSemantic methods and tools for information portals(INFORMATIK 2003 – Innovative Informatikanwendungen, Band 1, Beiträge der 33. Jahrestagung der Gesellschaft für Informatik e.V. (GI), 2003) Agarwal, Sudhir; Fankhauser, Peter; Gonzalez-Ollala, Jorge; Hartmann, Jens; Hollfelder, Silvia; Jameson, Anthony; Klink, Stefan; Lehti, Patrick; Ley, Michael; Rabbidge, Emma; Schwarzkopf, Eric; Shrestha, Nitesh; Stojanovic, Nenad; Studer, Rudi; Stumme, Gerd; Walter, Bernd; Weber, AlexanderThe paper describes a set of approaches for representing and accessing information within a semantically structured information portal, while offering the possibility to integrate own information. It discusses research performed within the project 'Semantic Methods and Tools for Information Portals (SemI-Port)'. In particular, it focuses on (1) the development of scalable storing, processing and querying methods for semantic data, (2) visualization and browsing of complex data inventories, (3) personalization and agent-based interaction, and (4) the enhancement of web mining approaches for use within a semantics-based portal.
- KonferenzbeitragA Static Business Level Verification Framework for Cross- Organizational Business Process Models using SWRL(Informatik 2007 – Informatik trifft Logistik – Band 1, 2007) Namiri, Kioumars; Kügler, Mani-Maurice; Stojanovic, NenadIn this paper we introduce a solution for the problem of the design-time verification of cross-organizational business processes. The configuration of the processes can be checked in order to examine whether it fulfills a certain set of business level requirements. A formal Ontology in OWL for these kinds of processes is provided, so logic mechanisms for the verification are applied. The business level requirements are expressed in SWRL. A demonstrable implementation integrated in an already existing business process modeling tool has been developed.
