- KonferenzbeitragDesigning Automotive Case Studies for Architectural Security Analyses(Softwaretechnik-Trends Band 43, Heft 4, 2023) Boltz, Nicolas; Walter, Maximilian; Gerking, ChristopherDigitalization is one of the biggest drivers of advancements in the modern automotive domain. The resulting increase in communication is leading to a more intensive exchange of data and the opening up of for merly closed systems. This raises questions about security and data protection. Software architecture analyses can help identify potential issues, thereby making systems more secure and compliant with data protection laws. Such analyses require representative case studies for development and evaluation. In this paper, we showcase the results of applying requirements and processes for case-study research during three bachelor theses with students. The resulting three case studies center around the automotive and mobility domain and focus on different security and privacy properties. We discuss our insights and experiences regarding the creation of case studies.

- KonferenzbeitragA Taxonomy of Dynamic Changes Affecting Confidentiality(Softwaretechnik-Trends Band 40, Heft 2, 2020) Walter, Maximilian; Seifermann, Stephan; Heinrich, RobertIndustry 4.0 facilitates dynamic production processes for highly tailored individual products that require intense cooperation between different organisations. The enabler of such cooperation are cyber-physical systems (CPSs). A set of policies also considering dynamic changes of a request context during runtime has to protect the confidentiality of involved systems. Analysing policy effectiveness already during design time can avoid costly confidentiality flaws. However, the changes that can be evaluated during design time are not clear. Therefore, we identified typical dynamic changes from use cases we gathered with two industrial partners and categorized them accordingly.
- KonferenzbeitragTowards Language-Agnostic Reuse of Palladio Quality Analyses(Softwaretechnik-Trends Band 40, Heft 3, 2020) Reimann, Malte; Seifermann, Stephan; Walter, Maximilian; Heinrich, Robert; Bureš, Tomáš; Hnětynka, PetrPalladio is the foundation for many research projects because of its increasing support for various quality properties. However, the Eclipse-based infrastructure does not always integrate well with other tools, which impedes or makes it tedious to reuse existing analyses. The Palladio tooling does not yet provide a language-agnostic interface that would support such integration scenarios. In this paper, we present the architecture and a prototypical implementation of such an interface based on gRPC and REST.
