- KonferenzbeitragBuilding Mobile Environmental Apps Using Web and Cloud Technologies(EnviroInfo Dessau 2012, Part 1: Core Application Areas, 2012) Schlachter, Thorsten; Weidemann, Rainer; Ebel, Renate; Schillinger, Wolfgang; Zetzmann, KlausSmall applications for mobile devices can be implemented relatively quickly, especially if they can draw on an existing service infrastructure. However, a number of small applications combined with a variety of supported mobile platforms lead to significant development and maintenance costs. The approach presented here combines the concept of a description of applications with the benefits of Web-technology-based cross-platform development.
- KonferenzbeitragConcept of a Universal Mobile Application Accessing Environmental Information Systems(Innovations in Sharing Environmental Observations and Information, 2011) Schlachter, Thorsten; Düpmeier, Clemens; Geiger, Werner; Weidemann, Rainer; Ebel, Renate; Tauber, Martina; Zetzmann, KlausConsidering the development of mobile applications, it can be noted that implemented processes often are very similar. The concept presented here describes a declarative approach to generating an entire family of mobile applications. These applications are based on descriptions of their functionality and appearance. Standard data formats are used for information interchange. Appropriate tools enable a cross-platform development and minimize the effort required for this.
- KonferenzbeitragConclusion of the Evaluation of a Content Management System (CMS) for the Ministry of Environment and Transportation Baden-Württemberg (UVM)(Sh@ring – EnviroInfo 2004, 2004) Dietrich, Antje; Ebel, Renate; Zetzmann, KlausThe FZI (research center for information technology) in Karlsruhe assessed four different CMS within the framework of the project CMS-E: maintaining all of the internet and intranet sites within the UVM ́s sphere of responsibility /5/. The decision fell on the CMS WebGenesis from the Fraunhofer institute IITB in Karlsruhe.
- KonferenzbeitragEvaluation of a Content Management System (CMS) for the Ministry of Environment and TransportationBaden-Württemberg (UVM)(The Information Society and Enlargement of the European Union, 2003) Dietrich, Antje; Ebel, Renate; Zetzmann, KlausThe FZI (research center for information technology) in Karlsruhe assessed three different CMS within the framework of the project CMS-E: maintaining all of the internet and intranet sites within the UVM ́s sphere of responsibility.
- KonferenzbeitragKonzept für eine neue Generation von Landes-Umweltportalen(Environmental Informatics and Industrial Ecology, 2008) Weidemann, Rainer; Geiger, Werner; Schlachter, Thorsten; Zilly, Gerd; Ebel, Renate; Zetzmann, KlausThe federal states of Baden-Wuerttemberg, Saxony-Anhalt, and Thuringia are jointly developing a new generation of environmental portals for these states. Typical problems associated with the implementation of such environmental portals will be analyzed and solutions pointed out. The paper will deal with the indexing of information that is not directly accessible by web crawlers, the integration of structured data from databases and especially of UDK (Environmental Data Catalogue) meta data, the interconnection with PortalU, the definition of technically or organizationally constrained search spaces, and problems of interfaces, in particular embedding of a commercial search engine in a system. First experience gained from the use of the Google Search Appliance as a component of the environmental portals will be reported.
