    CLIFF performs a critical analysis of past and on-going European flood and fire project s in which Earth Observation plays an important role to identify guidelines, recommendations and possible strategies to progress towards standardisation of different critical components of European Disaster Management (DM). This will contribute to improve efficiency and reliability of disaster management activities and as such to sustainability of the environment.

    CLIFF's Recommendations for Flood & Fire Disaster Management

    In the past two years, CLIFF has performed an analysis of selected projects funded by EC and ESA related to flood and fire management to identify guidelines, recommenda- tions and possible strategies to progress towards standardisation of different key- elements in Disaster Management (DM) operations. These key elements, e.g. predictive models, terminology and use of Earth observation data/products in the operational chains have been crossed with European Civil Protection requirements to demonstrate how ser- vices can be improved and harmonised.
