- KonferenzbeitragOpen innovation marketing. A case study(INFORMATIK 2010. Service Science – Neue Perspektiven für die Informatik. Band 1, 2010) Delden, Catharina van; Wünderlich, NancySocial networks and communities like facebook and myspace gain increasing importance in people's everyday lives. Companies start to see these platforms as a chance for communicating to an attractive target group and deriving innovation ideas from this group. Yet, methods and tools to efficiently initiate and use open innovation projects in these environments are limited. This article explores open innovation projects as a new method for systematically utilizing the creative potential of social community users and turning them into brand ambassadors.
- KonferenzbeitragDesign approaches for IEC 61499 control applications(INFORMATIK 2010. Service Science – Neue Perspektiven für die Informatik. Band 1, 2010) Preuße, Sebastian; Gerber, Christian; Hanisch, Hans-MichaelCurrent challenges require automation industry to be more flexible and tailored to a wide range of production scenarios. The trend shows up that the quantity of products is alternating, while the amount of possible product configurations increases. For this, manufacturing systems as well as control software applications have to be reconfigurable and reusable to meet these demands. The international standard IEC 61499 offers a lot of advantages to face these challenges. This contribution therefore proposes different design approaches for IEC 61499 control applications that are tailored to the demands of reconfiguration and reusability.
- KonferenzbeitragExploiting ontologies for better recommendations(INFORMATIK 2010. Service Science – Neue Perspektiven für die Informatik. Band 1, 2010) Uzun, Abdulbaki; Räck, ChristianTraditional recommender systems as they are mostly used in today's recommendation applications (e.g. the SMART Recommendations Engine of Fraunhofer FOKUS) primarily concentrate on recommending items to users. However, thinking of many modern (mobile) applications, contextual and semantic information may provide a significant preciseness to the recommendation process. That's why, Fraunhofer FOKUS' engine has been extended by two new extensions making the engine capable of incorporating contextual and semantic information when generating recommendations. This paper focuses on one of them, the SMART Ontology Extension.

- KonferenzbeitragAlgorithmic optimizations for energy-efficient monitoring of spatial objects on smartphones(INFORMATIK 2010. Service Science – Neue Perspektiven für die Informatik. Band 1, 2010) Bareth, UlrichLocation-based services are about to take the next step to proactive services which need continuous positioning for monitoring spatial objects. But so far that also results in severe battery drain in mobile devices due to deficient positioning APIs and the absence of energy-efficient positioning with several positioning methods. By using a hierarchical positioning concept this work provides a general algorithmic optimization to extend existing positioning APIs for energy-efficient positioning without diminishing accuracy. First prototypic implementations on Android handsets show a promising decrease in energy consumption.
- KonferenzbeitragInformation retrieval and expert advice services for business (IREAS2010). Vorwort(INFORMATIK 2010. Service Science – Neue Perspektiven für die Informatik. Band 1, 2010) Gronau, Norbert; Bahrs, Julian
- KonferenzbeitragDemand-side energy management systems for manufacturing(INFORMATIK 2010. Service Science – Neue Perspektiven für die Informatik. Band 1, 2010) Ameling, Michael; Schief, Markus; Nietzold, Frank; Kuhn, ChristianThe awareness of energy consumption is an important factor for production. Energy consumption is related to costs. Regulations and laws have to be fulfilled. Furthermore, the ecological aspects have to be considered. Nevertheless, competitive goals prohibit an solely energy driven production control. In this paper, we describe the use case of demand-side energy management in the context of the project ADiWa and the Internet of things. Furthermore, the event-driven approach is being evaluated within a living lab. Current results are demonstrated with a first prototype.
- KonferenzbeitragEvaluation games – how to make the crowd your jury(INFORMATIK 2010. Service Science – Neue Perspektiven für die Informatik. Band 1, 2010) Füller, Johann; Möslein, Kathrin; Hutter, Katja; Haller, JörgThis paper introduces the application of online evaluation games as method to elicit promising contributions in innovation contests. The “style your smart” design contest serves as field experiment to explore applicability and use of games for the evaluation of designs. Results indicate that online evaluation games help identifying the most promising designs, while being limited to submissions with certain characteristics and not being free of fraud.
