- ZeitschriftenartikelDetection and Processing of Visual Information in Three-Dimensional Space(MMI Interaktiv - Human: Vol. 1, No. 12, 2007) Herbon, Antje; Rötting, MatthiasThis paper reviews literature on visual information presentation in depth. A theoretical model of 3-D spatial interactions by Previc (1998) is presented. Fundamental research on spatial attention and applied studies in the fields of aviation and automobile driving are described, which were concerned with the task-specificity of information presentation in space. Necessary research is identified and an experimental set-up for intended future studies is presented.
- KonferenzbeitragFeeling scarcity: augmenting human feelings through physicalizations of energy consumption, attention depletion and animal murder(Mensch und Computer 2020 - Tagungsband, 2020) Hemmert, Fabian; Lohkamp, Gina; Orak, Gürkan; Salice, AlexanderWe describe the results of a design project about making scarce resources perceptible: a router, a campfire-inspired lamp and a knife block. All three are 'designed for discomfort' and intended to serve as thought-provoking objects.
- WorkshopbeitragUsing machine learning to determine attention towards public displays from skeletal data(Mensch und Computer 2023 - Workshopband, 2023) Lacher, Jonas; Bieschke, Laura; Michalowski, Florian; Münch, JohanesWe develop a classifier model trained to analyze anonymized skeletal data of passers-by at interactive public displays to determine whether an interaction has occured. The test setup and data collection methods are described. The skeletal data is preprocessed to highlight more relevant bodyparts. The performance of the finished model will be evaluated statistically and compared to approaches using human observers from other research.
