- KonferenzbeitragAudienceAR - Utilising Augmented Reality and Emotion Tracking to Address Fear of Speech(Mensch und Computer 2019 - Tagungsband, 2019) Hartl, Philipp; Fischer, Thomas; Hilzenthaler, Andreas; Kocur, Martin; Schmidt, ThomasWith Augmented Reality (AR) we can enhance the reality by computer-generated information about real entities projected in the user's field of view. Hence, the user's perception of a real environment is altered by adding (or subtracting) information by means of digital augmentations. In this demo paper we present an application where we utilise AR technology to show visual information about the audience's mood in a scenario where the user is giving a presentation. In everyday life we have to talk to and in front of people as a fundamental aspect of human communication. However, this situation poses a major challenge for many people and may even go so far as to lead to fear and and avoidance behaviour. Based on findings in previous work about fear of speech, a major cause of anxiety is that we do not know how the audience judges us. To eliminate this feeling of uncertainty, we created an AR solution to support the speaker while giving a speech by tracking the audience's current mood and displaying this information in real time to the speaker's view: AudienceAR. By doing so we hypothesise to reduce the speaker's tension before and during presentation. Furthermore, we implemented a small web interface to analyse the presentation based on the audience mood after the speech is given. Effects will be tested in future work.
- KonferenzbeitragVacuumCleanAR: augmented reality-based self-explanatory physical artifacts(Mensch und Computer 2020 - Tagungsband, 2020) Ludwig, Thomas; Hoffmann, Sven; Jasche, Florian; Ruhrmann, MariusConsumer purchase decisions are not only determined by the quality or price of a product. Customers also want an innovative product that they can identify with in something more than just a functional way. Much of this appeal is often bound up with the innovative character of a product. However, the global market and the huge variety of products available make it challenging for companies to help customers understand the particular innovations in their products, especially in terms of technical “hidden” innovations. Augmented reality (AR) offers interactive experiences in real-world environments through digitalized information. In this paper, we present a design case study about an AR-based approach to reveal the hidden innovations to potential users in an engaging and “emotional” way by using the example of a vacuum cleaner. Based on an empirical study, we designed and implemented the fully functional HoloLens application VacuumCleanAR, which allows users to discover the hidden innovations of a vacuum cleaner in a less functional and more consumer-centric way. This reveals the scope for augmenting other physical artifacts in a similar fashion.
- KonferenzbeitragVisualization of turnover rate in a warehouse using augmented reality: a demo with the Microsoft Hololens(Mensch und Computer 2020 - Tagungsband, 2020) Bräuer, Paula; Mazarakis, AthanasiosIn this submission, a new concept for the application of augmented reality in warehouse management is presented. The new tool offers the possibility to visualize the turnover rate of products in a warehouse and to optimize the location of products according to this key performance indicator. A prototype of the application was developed for the Microsoft HoloLens and subsequently implemented in a warehouse. The HoloLens is connected live to an ERP system, which is designed as a cloud application.
