- ZeitschriftenartikelBuilding Transformation Networks for Consistent Evolution of Interrelated Models(Softwaretechnik-Trends Band 42, Heft 2, 2022) Klare, HeikoIn model-driven development, models and constitute central units of the development process, from which also parts of the program code can be derived. A common means to preserve consistency between models are transformations, which adapt the other models after one of them was changed. Existing research is focused on bidirectional transformations that preserve consistency between pairs of models. Actual software systems are, however, usually described with more than two models, and the languages used to specify them vary between projects. In this thesis, we research how developers can combine multiple transformations to a network that is able to execute these transformations in an order such that all resulting models are consistent. We consider the problem from a software engineer’s perspective and make the central assumption that each transformation between two languages is developed independently and that the transformations are not and cannot be aligned with each other, in order to support independent development and reuse. We base mathematically founded as well as empirical considerations from case studies on these assumptions. Our contributions are separated into those concerning the correctness and those concerning the optimization of quality properties of such a combination of transformations to a network.
- ZeitschriftenartikelHermeneutische und situative Wissensvermittlung in der agilen Softwareentwicklung(Softwaretechnik-Trends Band 44, Heft 1, 2024) Kortendick, Oliver; Mester, SimoneAgile transformation of organizations is a long-term task. It must be supported by a variety of actions. Of particular importance is the emphasis on the exchange of normative and pragmatic knowledge that enables the development of “deep” hermeneutic understanding. We propose three different agile tools to support and drive this transformation: The formation of communities of practice to spread pragmatic knowledge. The introduction of lightweight processes (micro structures) to promote interaction, communication and networking between actors. As a third element, we recommend the provision of normative knowledge in a modular form that is appropriate to the respective needs. We supplement simple descriptions of knowledge modules with tools from the users' working world. Finally, we have developed a simple maturity model in which users can assess themselves using a questionnaire and receive easy-to-implement suggestions for improvement with regard to a topic.
- KonferenzbeitragMapping Data Flow Models to the Palladio Component Model(Softwaretechnik-Trends Band 39, Heft 4, 2019) Seifermann, Stephan; Werle, Dominik; Ebada, MazenPredicting quality properties such as privacy are reasonable use cases for Data Flow Models (DFMs). For other use cases such as performance prediction, component-based software architecture models focusing on control flows are more suitable. Designers can derive a Control Flow Model (CFM) from a DFM but they have to make numerous design decisions like defining operation signatures. Currently, this derivation is a creative process without a clear design space and without guidelines for navigating this space. In this paper, we present design alternatives for given data flow examples and derive mapping rules that allow to choose between reasonable alternatives. Our results are a first step towards a catalogue of rules for deriving CFMs from DFMs in a systematic way and providing semi-automated transformations.
- WorkshopbeitragSMT Solvers – A PromisingWay for Verifying User Interfaces?(Mensch und Computer 2022 - Workshopband, 2022) Bruchertseifer, Jens; Weyers, BenjaminEvaluating user interfaces of interactive applications in terms of correctness has always been a lengthy and error-prone task, as it would be executed by humans. This has led to this aspect of development being severely neglected, which poses a fundamental problem in terms of usability. In this work, we present a novel approach based on the creation of a formal representation from a given user interface, which is transformed into a reference net and finally converted into an SMT formula. As SMT formulae can be evaluated easily using highly efficient SMT solvers, this approach promises good efficiency in real-world scenarios.
- ZeitschriftenartikelStrategies to digitalize inert health practices: The gamification of glucose monitoring(it - Information Technology: Vol. 61, No. 5-6, 2019) Neumann, Caterina Joelle; Kolak, Tereza; Auschra, CarolinThe ongoing digital transformation will potentially change traditional health care practices fundamentally. However, change agents usually face serious challenges arising from the highly institutionalized nature of this industry. Using the gamification of glucose monitoring as part of diabetes care as an example, this paper focuses on strategies to transform health care, allowing not only to cope with, but also to change this context: gamification encourages behavioral changes in patients, establishes new roles between patients and providers, and thereby elevates patient empowerment.
AbstractThis article investigates the influence of information and communication technology (ICT) on business transformation. First, the general, ICT-driven development lines of globalization and service-orientation are described. Then, an analysis of the IBM Corporation’s transformation over the past 50 years into a globally integrated, service-oriented company illustrates that ICT innovations must be dealt with by simultaneous adaptation of business model, organization and corporate culture. For many companies the ability to manage this change becomes increasingly critical.
