- KonferenzbeitragCapturing semantics from search phrases: Incremental user personification and ontology-driven query transformation(2003) Ermolayev, Vadim; Keberle, Natalya; Plaksin, Sergey; Vladimirov, VladimirReported is the methodology of the semantic transformation of an initial user's search query in the form of key words or key phrases to the resulting query composed of the relevant concepts of the domain ontology. Transformation methodology is based on incremental user profiling. The mapping of a user's keywords to the concepts of the domain ontology is built according to the presented transformation rules. These rules are based on the usage of the rich set of the semantic relationships comprising subsumption, synonymy, instantiation and meronymy provided as the DAML+OIL ontology. ACM research papers domain is chosen for the methodology evaluation. Transformation algorithm is implemented in the research prototype as the combined capability of the query transformation agent and the ontology agent of the intelligent multi-agent information retrieval mediator1.
- KonferenzbeitragCluster analysis in multiset spaces(2003) Petrovsky, Alexey B.The paper considers techniques for grouping objects that are described with many quantitative and qualitative attributes and may exist in several copies. Such multi-attribute objects may be represented as multisets or sets with repeating elements. Multiset characteristics and operations under an arbitrary number of multisets are determined. The various options for the objects' aggregation (addition, union, intersection) and the main features of hierarchical and non hierarchical cluster analysis in multiset metric spaces are discussed.
- KonferenzbeitragEasily accessible GML-based geographic information system for multiple data server over the web(2003) Park, Soon-Young; Lee, Jae-Dong; Bae, Hae-YoungThis paper has proposed GML-GIS, which is a prototype system for geographic information service over the Web based on GML (Geography Markup Language). This system generates geographic information into GML document by user requests through URL and provides them with various styles applied to the document on the Web browser. This proposed system converts geographic information of a spatial database into GML documents for interoperability of diverse GIS engine. The architecture of this system is composed of User Interface Module, CGI/Script Module, Application Schema Generator, GML Translator, XML Analyzer, and Documents Pool. By the usage of this system, general users can access easily geographic information of multiple data server with different data type by Web browser
- KonferenzbeitragEPC modelling based on implicit arc types(2003) Mendling, Jan; Nüttgens, MarkusEvent Driven Process Chains (EPC) are commonly used for the modelling of business processes. As modelling is decentralised to personnel not familiar with the formal aspects of this method, syntax checks are needed to avoid invalid models. This paper presents the concept of implicit element and arc types. It can be used both to support modellers in the process of building models and to check entire models. It is especially helpful to avoid closure calculation for connector type consistency constraints.
- KonferenzbeitragEstimating content quality in the world wide web(2003) Mitlöhner, JohannThe World Wide Web is used by an increasing number of people as an everexpanding source of information on almost every topic imaginable. However, useful data is often buried in large quantities of low-quality content. Estimation of content quality is valuable for diverse applications, such as search result ranking and direction of crawlers. In this text an approach is described to automatically determine author identity of web pages and compile data on author reputation in order to better estimate the quality of new content. The results of preliminary studies are presented which show the viability of the author reputation approach.
- KonferenzbeitragFormal modeling of communication traces(2003) Boroday, Sergiy; Hallal, Hesham; Petrenko, Alexandre; Ulrich, AndreasDevelopment of distributed systems is complicated by the absence of reliable global timing, concurrency, and nondeterminism. To deal with these obstacles log files are produced by an instrumented system facilitating analysis, testing, and debugging. This paper presents a formal framework for the analysis of distributed system logs based on event trace concept. A partially ordered trace of events executed by a distributed system is modeled by a collection of communicating automata. We present an implementation of the analysis approach in SDL based on ObjectGEODE. A formalization of a property of an event trace, being a replica of another trace, is discussed.

- KonferenzbeitragAn integrated ontology development environment for data extraction(2003) Liddle, Stephen W.; Hewett, Kimball A.; Embley, David W.Data extraction is a necessary technology to deal with the huge and growing collection of unstructured and semistructured information available on the World Wide Web. Ontology-based data extraction is a robust approach, but the construction of ontologies is a technical task requiring the services of a human expert. We present a Java-based tool for the graphical creation and testing of data extraction ontologies. This tool leverages standards such as Java and XML to provide a portable, extensible, maintainable, feature-rich environment. This tool reduces the burden on expert ontology developers and simplifies the task of ontology creation.
- KonferenzbeitragManaging business logic with symbolic computation(2003) Schevchenko, Ruslan; Doroshenko, AnatolyA new approach of building enterprise distributed applications for layer of business rules as standard part of architecture is proposed in this paper. The approach uses symbolic transformation system based on rewriting techniques and embedded in Java language and provides analysis and engineering distributed applications at source code level. The benefit of the system is extreme flexibility of the approach and light-weightedness of formal methods and their separate application to program features that does not need to know full semantic model of application programs. The system is implemented and its usage is illustrated with an application example of engineering CORBA middleware application.
- KonferenzbeitragOverdraft agreement processing based on XML and its implementation in bankinformation system(2003) Marin, Igor O.; Orekhov, Sergey V.In this paper we present a brief overview of Bank Information System (BIS) market situation in Ukraine. An architectural approach for BIS is proposed. The approach demonstrates how to build the BIS application for credit department of a bank. The paper presents a first step of such system implementation, namely: subsystem for overdraft agreement processing. The subsystem uses XML to describe agreement statements. XML content is processed using XSLT to implement credit commission servicing.
