Zusammenfassung
Rapidly changing markets and competitive pressure cause the need for agility on all management levels. Fast business decisions are driven by the need of having a holistic and updated view on the value chain, throughout the strategic, tactical and operational level, supported by appropriate information systems. Transferred to the retail domain, local store managers are focused on operational decision making, while top management requires a view on the business at a glance. Both requirements rely on information, derived from transactional data, whereas the analytic views on this data differ completely. Accordingly, different data mining capabilities in the underlying information system are targeted, especially related to processing masses of transactional data in real-time. The examined software system is a SAP HANA in-memory appliance, which satisfies the aforementioned divergent analytic capabilities, as shown in this paper.
