Zusammenfassung
Gold has been mined in Roşia Montana for millennia, at times cautiously, at other times with less regard for possible consequences, resulting many changes in the landscape. The assessment of current conditions is essential for aiding better decisions.
In the present study we wish to follow two main objectives: we investigate the current condition and status of the Roşia Montana basin, and from these we wish to model and estimate the future changes in the landscape. GIS plays an important role in this research, being the tool for interpreting and understanding currently available and newly surveyed, measured data concerning several subjects (vegetation, anthropogenic factors, etc.).
