Environmental Communication in the Information Society - Proceedings of the 16th Conference
This paper presents three implemented and working waste information systems using Internet or Intranet of national and international state waste management administrative offices of Germany, Austria, Belgium, Netherlands, and Slovak Republic. These systems are using similar information and communication technologies. Each of them covers different waste management area – national transport of hazardous waste, international transport and national system of waste production and treatment. There are proposed main objectives of the waste management standardization process to establish an information system on waste generation and treatment (waste collection, transport, recovery and disposal), planning and reporting in compliance with the European Union legislation and standards of European Environmental Agency. These standards will be able to fulfil the prepared Regulation on waste management statistics and OJ questionnaire of EUROSTAT and OECD.
