Zusammenfassung
This paper describes the Superfund program’s statutory requirements for community involvement. It also discusses the efforts the Superfund program has made to involve communities that go beyond the statutory requirements, and the efforts of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to set expectations for public involvement in its regulatory and program decisions. Finally, the paper shares lessons learned from the Superfund program’s experiences about how to promote meaningful community involvement.
