Zusammenfassung
Datenbanken im Terabytebereich und gleichzeitig hohe Leistungsanforderungen für Ad-hoc-Anfragen lassen die Frage nach leistungssteigernden Ansätzen in relationalen Datenbanksystemen weiter an Bedeutung gewinnen.This paper describes such an approach – the partitioning of data. Data partitioning plays an important role in newer versions of major DBMS products, especially for the handling of data warehouses. We will present the results of an evaluation of partitioning functionality available in several database systems.The examined products are compared according to a set of important criteria.
