An adaptive public display needs a good understanding of its environment. This means which objects are in the sphere of influence, how they behave and how they interact with them. Especially when dealing with users of an interactive public display, it is therefore important to have a metric about the engagement of passers-by. In this work, we incorporate the current state of research on topics related to engagement and mindfulness of passers-by of a public wall display. We use 3D depth camera data, which recognizes a model of passers-by. Based on different scientific approaches, we then build a model of the different parameters of attention to analyze the collected data. Through further experiments, we validate the validity of the model with respect to different test cases.de
