dc.description.abstractDurch die Digitalisierung sind mehrseitige Plattformen zu einem der dominierenden Geschäftsmodelle geworden. Aufgrund der Besonderheiten dieses Geschäftsmodells ist der erfolgreiche Aufbau einer Plattform allerdings schwierig. Prozesse, die standardisiert und digitalisiert werden können, bieten Raum für erhebliche Effizienzgewinne. Häufig ist die Digitalisierung solcher Prozesse mit deren Auslagerung an spezialisierte Anbieter verbunden. Die vorliegende Fallstudie beschreibt diese Aspekte der Digitalisierung anhand der Business-to-Business-Plattform SOBRADO, welche die Prozesse von Versicherungsbrokern, die Interaktion von Versicherungsbrokern und Versicherern sowie nicht zuletzt auch die Prozesse beim Versicherer wesentlich vereinfacht. Die Fallstudie illustriert damit, wie der erfolgreiche Aufbau einer Plattform gelingen kann, indem Netzwerkeffekte, Prozessverbesserungen und Outsourcing kombiniert werden. Digitization boosted the multi-sided platform business model. The successful development of a platform is, however, difficult, due to the specific features of this business model. Processes that can be standardized and digitized make room for massive efficiency gains. The digitization of such processes is frequently accompanied by their outsourcing to specialized suppliers. The present case study illustrates these aspects of digitization by the example of the B2B platform SOBRADO, which has the potential to simplify the business processes of both insurance brokers and insurers, as well as the interaction between them. This case study thus describes the successful ignition of a platform business model through the combination of network effects, process optimization, and outsourcing.de
