dc.description.abstract | The objective of this paper is to describe the concept of a mobile app for calculating Carbon Footprints of business trips for small and medium sized enterprises. It is an application for the smartphone operating system Android. With this app the environmental relevant parameters of mobile operations, like travelling by plane or by car, can be collected. This is necessary because there is a lack of possibilities for those businesses to collect the data yet. The advantage is that the location based services technologies of Android can be used to simplify the collection of necessary information. With the gathered parameters, carbon footprints are calculated and shown to the user, so he or she is aware of the environmental impact of each travel option. An exchange mechanism from and to a server in a company is implemented for collecting the data and integrating it into the company-wide management ratios. The app was planned and developed as a master thesis at the University of Applied Sciences (HTW) Berlin. | de |
