Drug concentrations measured in the longitudinal profile of the river Saale in 2001 were evaluated with factor and cluster analysis. By means of factor analysis, the 9 evaluated drugs were divided into two main groups characterised by their persistence and adhesion to suspended matter. Cluster analysis served to find sampling locations with similar concentration pattern by which three differently polluted groups of sampling locations could be defined.de
