dc.description.abstractToday, various indicators show that the concept of environmental sustainability is increasingly influencing the various sectors of our economy. Information and communication technologies are recognized as key enabling technologies offering a great potential for re-engineering society towards more sustainable economic, social and environmental patterns. This paper documents briefly the European policy context for sustainable growth, as well as European programmer’s opportunities and underlying visions towards developing and deploying innovative ICT applications in the fields of environmental management and energy efficiency.de
