Zusammenfassung
Growing model complexity and the trend to use modeling and simulation know-how from the web “in the cloud”
imply an increasing demand for quality management. This demand is related to the models themselves as well as to
the simulation algorithms and the resulting data. In this situation, this paper analyzes the situation to derive demands
for reliable and feasible quality standards. The basic idea will be to study existing standards for data and software
quality with respect to a possible transfer to the domain of modeling and simulation. Metadata standards will be a
guideline on the one hand; the numerous standards for software development of the IEEE will guide the discussion
on the other hand. At the end the feasibility argument will be discussed in more detail especially with respect to the
persons in charge to fulfill the requirements of a possible quality standard. Caused by the interdisciplinarity of modeling and simulation projects they not necessarily have the skills of programmers to be able to handle the standards.
