| dc.description.abstract | The Virtual Centre of Competence (VCC) constitutes the information and management platform in the project “Zukunft Küste – Coastal Futures” which deals with Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM). The VCC combines the main components Content Management System (CMS), Mapserver (Web-GIS) and Database Management System (DBS) into a comprehensive information and communication system. All components are loosely coupled hence making all necessary information available in the most appropriate presentation form and comprehensiveness. Using the CMS as a starting point, the project’s scientists as well as interested stakeholders can easily find information relevant for the ICZM and tools, which enhance the users capacity to participate in the management process. | de |
