dc.description.abstract | Product data, information and knowledge are the core ICT resources for collaborative design. This paper describes five different approaches to exchanging and sharing product data in collaborative engineering: 1) Document management, 2) Enterprise application integration, 3) Reference models and semantic web, 4) shared product data repository, and 5) Federated product knowledge architecture. State of the art in academic research and industrial practice is briefly assessed. The paper concludes by outlining challenges and directions towards realizing federate product knowledge architectures. | en |
