Zusammenfassung

Agricultural production significantly contributes to global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, impacting climate, water quality, and biodiversity. Sustainability assessment (SA) tools have been developed to evaluate and mitigate these emissions, yet substantial variability in their data requirements affects output reliability. This study compares the content and technical requirements of six prominent SA tools—Cool Farm Tool, Farm Carbon Calculator, Holos, Field-to-Market, COMET-Farm, and Agrecalc. Results reveal critical gaps, such as the inconsistent inclusion of fertilizer origin data and soil organic carbon inputs, which significantly affects emission factor calculations. The findings offer a foundation for standardizing data requirements and improving tool accuracy, supporting sustainable farming practices globally.
