Using current business information technology such as Internet and artificial intelligence tools, environmental management tools, standards, policies and legislation an intelligent information system for environmental information management has been designed. The system is called SIIMMed that is the acronym in Romanian language of Intelligent Information System for Environmental Management. The system architecture design has two main goals: to follow the steps and to document the structures requested by the ISO 14000 standards and to guide the user for designing himself his environmental information management system. We use a modularization structure with a unique user interface and two information modules, i.e. an information model for data structuring and a communication model. The system can be configured for any organization of any size, helping the user to develop and maintain a particularly environmental management system in compliance with standards ISO 14000.Intelligent Information System for Environmental ManagementText/Conference Paper
