A complete redesign of the HUIS makes possible that on the one hand advanced modern web-technologies could be employed and on the other hand nothing new was developed as part of the system that did not already exist. For this reason, efforts were made to use standardized OpenGIS web-enabled Services in order to build a distributed environmental data infrastructure. This publication will describe the concept of the system, its historical developments and the results of the prototype stage.Development of an Environmental Data Infrastructure for HamburgText/Conference Paper
