New technologies such as Web Services, Semantic Web, GRID computing, e-Business systems and Agent standards might now also provide the means to begin applying agents widely in such environments. Beyond individual technologies however there lie huge challenges in developing, deploying and managing such systems. This talk will summarise some of the experiences from the Agentcities projects - one of the largest "agent" testbed deployments to date and including a wide range of demonstration applications. Specifically the talk will cover the lessons learned in establishing the network, views on the technologies used (and how they might evolve) and a view on Research and development challenges for the future.enInvited talk: Agentcities: lessons and future perspectives for large-scale agent deploymentText/Conference Paper1617-5468
